Resume - Soke Dan Hausel

It’s a miracle! Berated in school for day-dreaming and not paying attention: told by his high-school counselor it would be a waste of time to attend college, and told by a bureaucrat he didn’t know how to communicate, these people missed the fact he was a dreamer. Through time, his dreams became affirmations and evolved into reality. There is no doubt in his mind that this was the will of God! “I’m not sure what His plan is for me, but I thank God every day for these gifts”.

So, instead of failure, he rose to levels few achieve. Elected to Halls-of-Fame; selected for Who’s Who in Martial Arts Legends & for the Albert Nelson Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award. A success as a martial arts instructor and also as a geologist, public speaker and author.

MARTIAL ARTS. Grandmaster (Soke) Hausel celebrated 5 decades of martial arts in 2014. He began training in 1964-65 in kyokushin karate in Salt Lake City as a long-haired teenager in a popular rock n’ roll band. Prior to moving the Hombu (world headquarters for Seiyo Shorin-Ryu Karate) to Mesa, Arizona, he was instructor of martial arts at Gold’s Gym, Apollos Gym, Laramie Bushido Dojo, Arizona State University, the University of New Mexico, the University of Utah, and Professor of Martial Arts for more than 3 decades at the University of Wyoming.

A recipient of national & international awards in geology, public speaking, artmineral discoveries, exploration, education, teaching, martial arts & writing.
